Over the course of two days, a dynamic and engaging workshop was conducted, focusing on democracy education, freedom of speech, digital peacebuilding, and combating hate speech on social media. Designed for young people from diverse backgrounds, the workshop aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of democratic values and the responsibilities of digital citizenship.

The first day featured interactive activities such as role plays and group discussions on democracy, democratic principles, and freedom of speech. Participants explored real-life case studies, engaged in debates, and even conceptualized their own democratic models. The second day emphasized digital peacebuilding, equipping participants with strategies to identify and counteract hate speech. Role-playing scenarios allowed them to practice effective responses, while discussions highlighted the role of social media in promoting inclusivity and political awareness.

By the end of the workshop, participants collaborated on a collective vision for an inclusive digital community, utilizing social media as a tool for positive change.

One of the primary challenges encountered was the language barrier, as participants came from diverse linguistic backgrounds. To address this, real-time translation and accessible learning materials were provided to ensure inclusivity. Another challenge was adapting participants to nonformal learning methodologies, as many were accustomed to traditional educational styles. However, through the integration of interactive activities, role plays, and discussions, engagement levels increased, leading to a richer learning experience.

This experience underscored the importance of inclusive content delivery and dynamic facilitation techniques to maximize impact.

ALFinMotion 7th Jordan

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of our project, which focused on fostering intercultural dialogue and environmental awareness between Finland and Jordan. This project was a collaboration between Support Youth Leaders and Mirsal from Finland, aiming to create a platform for young people to engage in meaningful discussions on climate change and recycling. As a direct outcome of this initiative, we have developed a youth exchange program on environmental sustainability, involving 45 participants from both countries.

During the project, we had the valuable opportunity to visit the Anna Lindh Foundation office in Amman, Jordan, where we gained insights into regional initiatives and networked with other organizations. We also participated in the Info Day organized by the Erasmus National Office of Jordan, which provided us with essential guidance on managing and implementing Erasmus+ projects. Additionally, we visited the Ministry of Youth in Jordan to explore the facilities at youth hostels, ensuring they meet the needs for hosting our upcoming exchange program. This project has not only strengthened cooperation between the two organizations but also empowered young people to become active agents of change in their communities.

Mediterranean Youth in Action (Young Researchers)

After months of engaging online and drafting their policy papers, 25 young researchers from across the Euro Mediterranean region came together for two days of dynamic discussions and collaborative learning. These talented individuals explored critical issues such as peacebuilding, climate change, disinformation, and inclusivity in Euro-Med societies. They also participated in an intensive training session on research dissemination tools and data visualization— gaining valuable insights on how to effectively communicate their research.

It was truly inspiring to witness the energy and collaboration among participants from such diverse backgrounds. The workshop fostered an environment of peer-to-peer learning and cross-cultural exchange, highlighting the strength of collective knowledge and shared experiences.

A heartfelt thank you to the esteemed experts for their invaluable personalised feedback and for guiding these bright minds toward refining their research. We also extend our gratitude to the Policy Center for the New South for co-organizing this event and providing such an incredible venue for meaningful exchange and learning. This is just the beginning — stay tuned to see how these young researchers will translate their insights into impactful policy recommendations!
